MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

'Tis the season of lights, music & family!  Right?  The smell of snow is the air!

Do you enjoy driving around looking at all the holiday light displays?  We do too!  Did you know that many apartment communities are beautifully lit & festive for the holiday season?  You don't just have to drive around the residential neighborhoods to enjoy the sights of the season.  Not only do you get the individual expressions of the community residents, but you also can take in the beautiful structural displays by the property's management & landscapers!

Give yourself a present this holiday season & unwind with a quiet drive through your local apartment communities!

I can't believe the holiday season is upon us and the temperature is so cold!  It seems like yesterday we were watching the Buckeyes and enjoying the fall leaves.  Did you know that this is a great time to move?  Many apartment communities offer enticing move-in specials this time of year.  You should check out our MyPlaceColumbus website.  There are a lot of communities with great incentives.  I noticed that many of them offer warm fireplaces.  I also see a ton of great winter amenities like garages to keep your cars in, workout rooms so you can get a start on your New Year's resolution now, and clubhouses where you can attend or host a holiday party!  Don't take my word for it though... check it out for yourself at www.myplacecolumbus.com.  No matter what area of town you want to live - we are everywhere you want to be!

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

Wow!  Back in the grind... Did everyone have a safe & enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday?  Are all the leftovers gone yet?  Did anyone brave the stores on Black Friday for all the best holiday deals?  Which do you prefer:  in-store shopping on Black Friday or staying at home (or while at work) and participating in Cyber Monday?  Or both?

Just a quick blog today - still trying to get over the food coma...

When you are choosing a community to live in, what is most important?  Price?  Location?  Amenities?  Timber Creek Village is a small community in the Groveport area that is in such a nice wooded setting!  And - bonus! - it has a bunch of different styles to choose from - SIX to be exact!  If you want stairs, they have two-bedroom townhomes.  If you don't, they have one-bedroom AND two-bedroom ranches and twin singles.  All in a nice, quiet residential area.  Amazing!  Garages... private patios... washer/dryer... Perfect!  And *GORGEOUS* landscaping!  Just have a look at this place:

I mean really look... it's worth it!

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

The big week is here!  T-minus four days and counting until THANKSGIVING!  Or, for some of you: T-minus *five* days and counting until BLACK FRIDAY!  Am I right or am I right?  :)

How about them Buckeyes, eh?  Going up north & showing who is boss of the Big Ten!  Fantastic stuff!

Has everyone bought a turkey yet?  Here's a question or two:  fried turkey or oven-roasted?  Anyone ever had a tur-duck-en?  Seems very intimidating to me.

Okay, for those of you who haven't gotten your Thanksgiving shopping done yet - you are running out of time!  Depending on which side of town you are on - I recommend either Trader Joe's at Easton or Whole Foods in Dublin.  They both have the "coolest" foods!

If you are heading to Trader Joe's - I have a side trip for you... just off of Old Rt. 161 on Harlem Road in New Albany is a GORGEOUS gated community of townhomes (all 2-bedroom) and gardens (all 1-bedroom).  Albany Woods must be seen to get the full experience!  It really feels like a nice, quiet, secluded, residential community - and in New Albany!  Look at it:

Stunning!  Seriously... you have to stop by!  The staff is terrific, the apartments are unbelievable - well worth the trip!

Take a quick tour right now:

Get the New Albany quality of living without the high cost of New Albany living!

If a trip to the east side of this amazing city is a bit out of reach for you - then head over to Whole Foods in Dublin!  From there, you can take a very easy side trip to Copperleaf...  The landscaping is stunning, the location is perfect, the staff is wonderful and the community is affordable AND luxurious!  Dublin address - Columbus prices!  What a treat!  Have a look:

I'm telling you - this place is perfection down to the littlest detail!  When you drive through - be sure to check out the dumpsters.  Yes, the dumpsters.  You'll see what I mean.  This staff takes nothing for granted!

Check them out right now:

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

For those of you traveling for Thanksgiving, please be careful.  Oakwood Management is thankful for our terrific residents and our family of employees.

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

We've made it to the middle of the week!  Is anyone heading to the "place up north" on Saturday for the big OSU/UM football game or hosting a game-watching party?  Hard to believe the season is coming to an end - until the Rose Bowl, that is!

Speaking of hard to believe... Thanksgiving is next week!  Wow!  Already?!?  Hopefully the weather stays *perfect* for all the holiday travelers.  What is the consensus out there - travelling for the holiday or hosting dinner?  Be sure to make or bring enough pumpkin pie for everyone! :-)

For those of you travelling east of Columbus, be sure to take a few extra minutes and hop off of I-70 at the Rt. 256 exit.  Not only can you stop at one of America's favorite restaurants (Cracker Barrel), but you can also drive through the cute & cozy community of Woodland Trace Apartments!  Woodland Trace offers 2-bedroom townhomes (some with one & a half baths!) in a nice, residential neighborhood... the school system is superb, the location is outstanding, and the prices can't be beat!  Sounds perfect!  And it looks perfect too.  See for yourself!

Nice, right...?  And they have a pool, too!  Bonus!  Before you head out there, (unless, of course, you are already on your way there) take a couple minutes and give yourself a virtual tour below:

Be sure to make a trip to Woodland Trace as soon as possible - you will love it!

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

Morning, all!  Wednesday... Happy Veterans Day!  And the sun is out!  Bonus!

One of the BEST parts of Central Ohio is the Easton area (am I right, or am I right?)... shops, restaurants & entertainment to rival NYC & LA!  Okay, maybe not the entertainment, but close!  Easton is *the place* to be seen in Central Ohio - check it out for yourself!  Especially when it is decorated for the holidays - just a beautiful vision.  When you finish checking Easton out, be sure to make a stop in the New Albany area on the way home...

Albany Commons is a gorgeous, upscale, gated community of garden-style apartments and HUGE cottages.   The cottages even have attached garages - some are even 2-car garages!  This MEGA award-winning community is definitely a terrific place to call home!  The staff is amazing, too!  The attention to detail is unbelievable, and... wait for it... they offer FREE golf at Central Ohio's best public courses!  Yes, FREE GOLF.

I mean, seriously - look at how gorgeous this place is!  Go ahead & tour it below.  It is worth it.

Amazing, right?  You'll thank yourself for making the trip out to see them in person.

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

Monday already?!  What a fantastic weekend!  I hope this indian summer continues!

Did you watch the Ohio State/Penn State football game on Saturday?  Were you lucky enough to attend it in Happy Valley?  It certainly was a "happy" place to be if you are a Buckeyes fan!

Speaking of happy places, all of the Oakwood Management communities will be participating in toy & food drives again this year.  If you don't live in one of our fabulous communities (and why don't you?!), and you would like to donate a toy or food for a needy Central Ohio family, please stop into any one of our rental offices with a new, unwrapped toy and/or canned or non-perishable food item starting on Monday, November 16.  In these difficult economic times, please remember that there are many families IN YOUR COMMUNITY that cannot afford a holiday meal, let alone toys for their children.  Each Oakwood community will deliver the food and toys to their local fire station, so that all the donations truly do stay in the community.  It is amazing how providing a new toy to a child can make a tremendous difference!

If you happen to be on the city's west side - right in Hilliard - there are two stops you should make!  Besides being a terrific suburb with fantastic schools and filled with trendy restaurants & shops, Hilliard is also home to Fountain Place Apartments & Cabot Cove Apartments!

Fountain Place is a gorgeous - AWARD-WINNING - community of 1-bedroom/1-bath and 2-bedroom/2-bath gardens.  The floor plans are really cute and VERY functional!  Even though we are in a warm stretch of weather in November - it is too cold to swim in their beautiful pool... but no worries - the pool will re-open in the spring!  The staff is second-to-none - just 5 minutes with Amy (the Property Manager) and you will be hooked!

And did I mention that the property is AWARD-WINNING??  The grounds are absolutely stunning!

These are some seriously nifty apartments!  Still not convinced?  Take a video tour & see for yourself!

See what I mean?

Now some of you may not be "garden-style" apartment people.  Don't worry!  Less than a mile away is Cabot Cove!  They offer 2-bedroom townhomes with attached garages in two different styles!  Some even have one & a half baths!

This place is terrific - perfect for small families or for single professionals!  They have a gorgeous pool (yes, this one is closed for the season, too) and a great gazebo to enjoy a book on the weekends or to stop for a nice rest as you take a leisurely stroll about the community.

What a great place to call home!  Just look at how lovely it is!

And for those of you who are still skeptical (the place really does speak for itself - stop by & you will agree!)... why not take a video tour right now?

So be sure to visit the city's western parts... you will be glad you did!

Until next blog...

MyPlaceColumbus Happenings...

Wow!  The weekend sure flew by!  Today is Tuesday - Voting Day - so be sure to get out there & let your voice be heard!

It was certainly a great weekend here in Ohio's capital city... the OSU Buckeye football team won (convincingly, too, I might add)!  The Columbus Blue Jackets ice hockey team won (not so convincingly, but a win is a win - right?)!  The Columbus Crew soccer team... well, you can't win them all.

All the little costumed witches, ghosts, monsters, princesses & cowboys got their fill of sickly sweet treats for the year... and we all gained an extra hour of much-needed sleep!  Good times!

If you happen to be on the city's east side... do yourself a favor & make a little side trip.

On the edge of Reynoldsburg is a GORGEOUS, colonial community Williamsburg Square.  Did I mention that this is a gorgeous community??  Every type of floor plan you can imagine - 1-bedroom & 2-bedroom gardens... 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom AND 3-bedroom townhomes - some with basements even!  Beautiful brick buildings, too.  And they have the "3 Ps":  pools, playground and patios!  They even have these amazing upgraded 2-bedroom townhomes that have sharp-looking cabinets & appliances, Berber carpet, and pretty classy color schemes.  The landscaping is lovely too - see...?

Aren't the brick buildings fantastic?  The flowers are just gorgeous!  Who wouldn't want to come home to those??  If you appreciate older architecture - this is the place for you!  These beauties are totally in-line with the theme of Columbus' history.  Please stop by & tour them!  It is about time you gave yourself a treat - you deserve it!

Williamsburg Square:  Great community, great style, great price... what more could you want in a home?

Still aren't convinced?  Check out this fantastic video:

It is a beautiful day in Columbus, but rumor has it that rain is on its way... such is life in the Midwest! Times are good in Columbus...

The ghost, goblin, witch & pumpkin-themed events are thriving throughout our beloved hometown!

Lots of concerts, festivals, theater, arts & sporting events happening, too!

East of the I-270 outerbelt, there are lots of terrific places to live... if, of course, you are looking for a new place to call home. While you are driving around watching the amazing fall foliage that is putting on a terrific show all through Central Ohio, you MUST check these places out for yourself! Just drive by... you will be impressed!

Right in the hot-spot of Taylor Square (Pickerington), there is a BRAND NEW... yes BRAND NEW... community of enormous ranch-style apartments called The Glen at Taylor Square ... they are pricy, but definitely worth it! The quality of the construction and the attention to detail makes it an absolutely STEAL if you are lucky enough to get one before they are snatched up! Just LOOK at them!

A tiny bit south in Canal Winchester is another AMAZING place - Schirm Farms. They have everything you can want in a community! Chances are, they are close to having nothing available, so I'd get out there soon if I were you! Fabulous staff, fabulous apartments, gorgeous setting... sounds perfect to me!

And if you have never visited Columbus - you MUST! It probably isn't the place you think it is...
